2 for Seder was created in January of 2019 after one of our founder’s Mother-in-Law was murdered at the Tree of Life Synagogue Shooting on October 27, 2018. Our goal was to fill in a gap of how we fight anti-Semitism – to help us as individuals take direct action against the misunderstandings that allow hate to grow (read more about 2 for Seder here).
We’ve been locked away from each other, some of us have gotten sick, some have lost jobs and some have lost their lives. Our country is in upheaval and we as individuals and a nation are supporting our fellow African-American citizens in their fight against hate and bigotry. Yet anti-Semitism keeps popping up. Jews are blamed for starting COVID. Jews are blamed for creating riots out of peaceful protests. Mindless and illogical hate never seems to rest. Neither can we.
It’s Time for Action
At 2 for Seder we have always looked to action inspired by Tikkun Olam (repairing your corner of the world) to build bridges and fight hate of all forms. We believe that each of us can not only support and learn from the professionals who have dedicated their lives to this goal, but we have the power to take direct action with our acquaintances, co-workers and friends while being proudly Jewish.
Now that we have grown and worked with so many of you, let’s continue our Tikkun Olam efforts throughout the year.
Introducing Weekly Action Tips
Starting this week 2 for Seder will be sending you “Weekly Action Tips” with suggestions for small, meaningful activities you can do throughout the year, building up to 2 for Seder for Passover. If you are not already on our mailing list, sign up here. We also explain why each Action Tip is effective against the bigger picture of hate and anti-Semitism. Most activities are quick and the most effective ones for you will involve an activity that you are already doing (just like 2 for Seder!). Here’s a sneak peek at a few of our first tips:
- Listen to Jews of Color
- Make an Extra
- Follow It!
Like everything at 2 for Seder, our recommendations are free. We would love to hear from you about the Tips or if you have any ideas of your own.
